Diploma in Cognitive Hypnotherapy
Cognitive Hypnotherapy at the Quest Institute Diploma in Cognitive Hypnotherapy
By michaelgrossman on 31/08/2011

This course has completely changed my outlook on life and people. I can honestly say that as a direct result from undertaking this course I have developed personally.

Like the previous feedback from students, I too share their enthusiasm for the course, for Trevor and the Quest family, which includes his lovely wife, Bex and the assistants. Believe me, there is a long queue to be an assistant. My mentor travelled all the way from Manchester and would return there on the Sunday night! And I would do the same!

I found Quest through the National Council for Hypnotherapy. In fact, Trevor used to be the editor of their journal. Who better to teach Hypnotherapy?

Trevor is a relaxed, informal and down-to-earth character. Although he is a giant in the field of Cognitive Hypnotherapy, he always made me feel as if I was on his level. He was very encouraging to everybody. His humorous charm made learning fun.

I enrolled on the course as I wanted to be a Hypnotherapist. The idea of Cognitive Hypnotherapy was very appealing and, as a bonus, there's also a certificate in Neuro-linguistic Programming to be obtained. I received the two qualifications and much, much more than I had ever expected, I understand myself better. Although I am generally a positive person, I have been given the tools to be as positive as I want to be in all environments, including what could be perceived as stressful. And I have been taught how to make a difference to how people feel, see the world, and be phobia or addiction free.

In summary, this course has many appeals. I have a new profession. I have a toolbox of techniques that CAN make a difference to people's lives, and my life. I have met a lot of lovely people. I liked the course so much that I have enrolled on further courses with Quest!

The Diploma in Cognitive Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming has, I can say quite honestly, completely changed my life.

Primarily, it has enabled me to have a completely new and successful career, and this in itself is great. I am doing a job where I'm constantly surprised that people want to give me money, as I've enjoyed myself doing it so much! Setting up my business has been easy, as I have had the support of the whole Quest family, and, well, this stuff works, so there are no problems in selling Cognitive Hypnotherapy to other people, and clients are just arriving out of nowhere.

The Quest support network is also amazing. There are regular opportunities to meet up with other people both in small groups and larger CPD meetings, a 'Quest Fest' which is a weekend training and meet up, and the part I have found most useful - the Quest Forum. There is a never ending source of information and support in real-time from the most supportive, friendly and funny bunch of people.

The teaching on the course has been spectacular. Trevor is one of the loveliest people you could ever meet, he is support-with-a-beard. He is funny (don't tell him that though...), proactive, encouraging, intelligent, interesting, and his enthusiasm is infectious. His teaching has allowed me to learn so much, and to apply it to my own life.

Well, how has my life changed? I've always been a positive person, but now, I am... whole?! (Cheesy!) Ok, I am... fixed?! (I am a work in progress...) Erm, I am... working towards being the best version of me I can be. Yes, that's the one. I am me, improved and improving!

I am fear and phobia-less, have more confidence, more positive, more in control of my emotions and feelings, I am losing weight, I have a new career, more money, more productive and happier relationships, I am running the Great South Run and getting fit, and overall have a much better life. And this is all because of the Quest Institutes 'Diploma in Cognitive Hypnotherapy and Neuro Linguistic Porgramming'.

I honestly don't need to try and sell it to you, it sells itself. If Hypnotherapy has ever been something you're interested in, or you would like to learn how to help yourself create the life you imagine having, then apply to do the course. If not, come and see a Questie therapist... ;-)

I was seeking a sense of purpose, some way I could help others, when I found the Quest website. And how grateful I am that I did!
This course has had a transforming effect on my entire life! It has helped me grow, mentally and emotionally, and I have gained so much more knowledge, understanding and insight into the ways of the mind, thoughts and behaviour, self-identities...
I understand myself a lot better now, too!

The course is extremely interesting and very informative, on every level.
I now have the capabilities and confidence to start up my own Practice, secure in the knowledge that the Quest family is always on hand to guide and assist me should I have any concerns or questions.

I've enjoyed every second of this excellent, endlessly fascinating, mentally stimulating, course!

Trev is a brilliant tutor who manages to inject a lot of laughter into our learning, making class fun as well as a place of deep learning. Bex is an angel, kind caring and supportive. She is always available should you need guidance, advice or just a friendly ear. The Class Assistants are friendly and ever so helpful. And Questie Graduates offer Students and Graduates unlimited assistance and advice on the Quest forums, so you always feel secure and supported, no matter whether you're a student or someone who graduated 10 years ago. Quest is always there for you.

My only complaint is that the course ended far too quickly!

This course is a Gift that I highly recommend, especially to those who are creative, imaginative, thoughtful and curious. Those who want to change their life for the better and change the lives of others for the better.
If you want to invite some amazing new experiences into your life, then take the plunge! You will thank yourself afterwards, I promise you!

Fantastic! Diploma in Cognitive Hypnotherapy

It's hard to put into words just how this course has had an amazing impact on my life. After an incredibly positive experience with a Quest therapist a few yeas ago, I researched into Cognitive Hypnotherapy and found this highly recommended diploma.

The course has been wonderful for my self development; it has helped me to understand myself and my relationships with others. It has also given me practical skills to set up my own business as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist as well as provide a whole network of support to help me along the way. Being in such a positive, encouraging environment has awoken my confidence and excitement to learn. The Quest team: Trevor, Bex, Jan and the course assistants are amazingly supportive. At times it was difficult to juggle the course and a full time job; at times I had doubts about my ability to finish the HPD - but the result was totally worth it. This course has everything you need to develop on a personal and professional level.

I can't recommend it highly enough.

This course was excellent in every respect. The standard of teaching, delivery, resources and overall knowledge gained was of a very high standard. It was also great fun! Group experience was lively, entertaining, supportive and I genuinely looked forward to each weekend. Trevor has the ability to communicate often quite complex concepts into language that is understandable whilst being able to maintain attention. He is a funny bloke which helps and the Quest Team including Bex and the Helpers add to the experience by offering support and humour along the way.

I qualified as a Counsellor five years ago and have attended several Post-Graduate Courses. This was by far the most enjoyable and I look forward to integrating what I have learnt into my Practice.

Where do I begin? Well I guess the beginning would be a good place to start :)

When I found the Quest website I'd already been in practice as a hypnotherapist for 3 years. I'd done a fair amount of training and projected an image of confident expertise. However, the truth was I was not an expert and I wasn't confident either. I had a big bag of tricks but I had no idea how to apply them with any real success as a therapist. I was frustrated with my shortcomings and was beginning to consider cutting my losses and choosing another career. Then I read the quest website.... It was as if my prayers had been answered. I quickly realised that Trevor had a vision for therapy that matched my own and I called to arranged an interview.

The interview went really well. I trusted Trevor and Bex immediately and the next day I signed up. The course began and I whilst I really enjoyed it I quickly realised how little I actually knew about being a therapist. Modules 1-5 were very humbling in that I had to face the self doubt that had being there all along. Trevor was very supportive during this time and offered me useful feedback on how to overcome the obstacles I was facing. He was always available to answer any questions I had and I felt nurtured and guided by him. It was the first time I'd met a trainer who I felt genuinely cared about me reaching my potential, and who could actually see me deeper than I could see myself. Although this was scary, I trusted him and in that trust I was able to stay in growth even though what I was experiencing seemed more like a deconstruction.

If module 1-5 was a humbling deconstruction, module 6-10 were all about rebuilding on a grounded self esteem. I'd been to a couple of Questie meetings in London and had really enjoyed what other Questies had shared. I began to think about what I could offer to the meetings and, although the thought of presenting scared the crap out of me, I wrote an email to Trevor and offered to do a presentation. I had no idea that he would actually take me literally and for that reason was surprised when he asked me to do it. I ended up doing two presentations in London and Slough and although I was really nervous, I found the experience very empowering. At this point I realised just how supportive the quest family really is and I made a conscious decision to really embrace being a Questie.

To me being a Questie means to stay open to new learning and growth. To give the gifts that you have and to recieve the gifts of others. To live life as an example of what's really possible, as Mahatma Gandhi said "be the change you want to see in the world". Trevor and Bex are wonderful examples of this possibility.

Other than embracing life as a Questie, I think one of the most valuable thing I've taken from this last 10 months is that I've learned how to be a therapist. I still have my tool box, but I know how to use it now and I am so excited about putting it all into practice. The support network that's inplace here is really above and beyond anything I could have wished for and I know I have all the support available to succeed as a therapist and fulfil my potential, in whatever form that takes.

The course itself is wonderful. It's clearly structured, well paced, and has an excellent balance of theory and practical. The pacing is such that I seemed to absorb the material without conscious effort and the fact that I would just find myself doing cognitive hyonotherapy, was a constant surprise to me. Don't get me wrong, if you do this course fully and do your HPD then it's a lot of work. But it's paced in a way that makes it seem a smooth transition, and there is always plenty of support available when it seems otherwise.

For those who are seeking a career in hypnotherapy I say go for it, this is the best training you can get (in my opinion). To those who are already practicing, but feel in need of extra training, I also say go for it. This course will give you the skills you need to become better at what you do.

In summing up.... Well how do I sum up. There is a debt of gratitude here (and it's a wonderful debt) that calls to be paid. This review is a very small part of that payment. The rest will be paid by giving back to a group of people who have given (and continue to give) me so much, and by fulfilling my own potential as a cognitive hypnotherapist. I'm excited to see how it unfolds.

Two years ago I was in….. lets just say…..not a great place. Don't get me wrong in the grand scheme of things the quality of my life was above average. But as a person I had become something I didn't recognise. I went to the doctor who listened to me talk through my list of physical symptoms, then I cried a bit so she listened to what that was about and she concluded by saying lets keep a watching brief on how things go. I only know a bit about approaches to dealing with mental health issues but I think she had me hovering at step one of a three-step model to treating mental health. I'd say I was possibly mildly depressed. Ok I said but eventually when I composed myself I thought like hell 'wait and see' I have to do something about this life is too flippin short to wait and see.

So to cut a long story short I found myself in coaching which led me to start a whole new life. As part of this new life I was doing new things and learning new skills. I stumbled upon Quest as I was reviewing hypnotherapy courses for a new found friend. I liked what I saw on the Quest website and again to cut a long story short I attended the self-helpnosis course and signed up for the Quest diploma course shortly after.

I'm no Oscar Wilde so I find it quite difficult to put into words the full experience of the course and do it justice. The overall quality, content, approach, Trevor and Bex, the assistants, venue, fellow course members are all excellent, top, the best, fantastic, brilliant, lovely……..I could go on and on and on and on. Before I signed up I made contact with some people who had done the course and was told its like being part of a family. I thought 'oh that sounds nice' but also thought it was a bit cliché and didn't really believe it. Anyway I can now honestly say it is really like that!!!

As for the learning we were reassured that it would all come together and it did. We were reassured that when you go away from here you'll be surprised at how well equipped you are to practice………. that is also true. It was suggested that we would establish some life long friendships and whilst I can't actually say that is true just yet I am certain it will be..………..Now all of that is excellent but the really fantastic thing for me, which is why I bored you with the bit at the beginning, is that the course has truly accelerated my journey to becoming who I really am……… and that for me is priceless……….

So would I recommend the course?……..you bet I would!!!!!!

In February 2010 I was notified by my MD that my position in the business was under review. I was due a bonus for my work and knew that it was time to start looking for another job.

The idea of swapping one job for another that I may not like was distinctly unappealing and in light of the economic climate and the jobs market I came to decision that what I needed was a skill. A skill in an area in which I held interest.

I had been to see a Quest Therapist the year before and remembered his glowing praise of Quest. I contacted The Quest institute and met with Trevor in March.

As we sat down, my AD (for non-cog hypnotherapists I would describe this as my logical/thinkers brain) was running at a hundred miles per hour trying to pick up on the truth of the course, the expertise of Trevor and any hint of what can politely be called 'exaggeration'.

I found what I hoped for.

Trevor was incredibly honest and forthcoming. He recommended I compare his course to at least 2 others. He came across as calm, confident, friendly, engaging and open. I detected no exaggeration, no false claims and something, which for me, was vital. A genuine desire and historic proof of extending and advancing the field.

I agreed to sign up for the course that day.

Module 1 I was a bit nervous. This was quickly put at ease by the quality and decency (not to mention humour) of my fellow students. Almost every group has a bad egg. This one did not. I put that down to Trevor and Bex's skills at selecting their students.

Everybody experiences the course differently. For me, I only really kicked into it from about module 4 onwards and started looking forward to it from about module 5/6. Before that, I was constantly looking ahead to graduating, because by this time my day job had got worse and I spent most of the time counting down the days until I could make this my new career.

Module 6 onwards went like lightning and I graduated yesterday.

It was a moment that was up there with getting my degree. Only this time, I had made my choices as a considered adult rather than as an 18 year old. That made it so much more important.

How I would rate the course:

Length: 10/10 - One weekend a month is just enough. Anymore and it would be intrusive, any less and the learning would suffer.

Content: 10/10 - Phenomenal. The Principal Trainer has written 3 books and extended the field. He also practices what he preaches and still sees clients.

Trainer: 10/10 - Trevor has a unique style that uses humour and true case studies to illustrate the techniques and knowledge. Ample time is given to practice. He is clear and supportive and allows questions and input.

Facilities: 9/10 - Regents College in Regents Park is set in fantastic grounds. Beautiful in the summer and peaceful in the winter.

Support staff: The assistants were fantastic. Their help was selfless.

Non-Class support: The forums have a wealth of information and there are always Questies willing to assist. This continues upon graduation.

Prospects: The Quest Institute seeks to seperate Cognitive Hypnotherapy from mainstream hypnotherapy and with good reason. Cognitive Hypnotherapy is non-protectionist, seeks to enfore high codes of conduct and training and ensure quality in all aspects with a basis on neuro-science and the open mindedness to embrace what works. The rest of the industry has a long way to go. Quest will be unique and at the forefront of turning a part of hypnotherapy into a respected and quality defined therapy.

Overall: 10/10 As a result of the course I intend to become a full time Cognitive Hypnotherapist. In addition to this planned change in my career, I have changed as a person. I understand my behaviour and the behaviour of those around me which in turn allows me to adapt.

I have made life long friends.

I have met some incredible mentors.

I have learned a skill set that I can use almost anywhere.

I believe I am part of something that will be a serious discipline.

I believe we will provide THE therapy of choice.

I believe there is scope for this in all aspects of life, not just therapeutic problems.

I would recommend this course and would be happy to answer any questions over phone or email.

Enjoy it.
